Group Practice & Events

As a means to support the community of practitioners in Flagstaff, we offer a group meditation session once a week and show the broadcast of Khentrul Rinpoche’s monthly webcast teaching.

The group practice not only helps strengthen our community, but also gives us an opportunity to cultivate love, compassion, and wisdom in accordance with our Buddhist tradition, which can be traced in an unbroken lineage back to the time of the Buddha.

Weekly Group Practice

Group practice is held each Wednesday evening from 5:45pm to 6:45pm. We alternate between three different practices: Shamata, which develops a calm and clear mind; Tonglen, which develops love and compassion; and The Heart Sutra, which develops profound insight (vipasana) into the true nature of phenomena. These practices are pillars of the Buddhist path, the quintessential practices for accumulating merit (love and compassion) and wisdom (insight into our true nature).

Teachings with Rinpoche

Khentrul Lodrö Thayé Rinpoche teaches twice a year at Katog Jampel Sungling. Generally he comes in the fall and winter months. To view his teaching schedule, visit the Katog Choling web site.

To help us stay connected to our teacher, Katog Choling broadcasts a monthly teaching given by Khentrul Rinpoche. We show the broadcast at Katog Jampel Sungling.

If you are interested in attending teachings, group practice, or live web teachings, please sign up for our e-mail list or call Melissa Giovale at 928.526.5007.
