To change our mind, we begin by cultivating a strong intention to not harm any living being; furthermore, we develop loving kindness and compassion and base all our actions on that. With that as a foundation, one engages in introductory and extraordinary methods of practice with ease and little difficulty.

Tibetan Language Courses
Katog Jampel Sungling offers Tibetan language courses to Buddhist practitioners as a means to support and deepen their spiritual practice. Even a basic understanding of the Tibetan language can greatly facilitate the recitation of any sadhana practice. In addition, learning Tibetan allows for you to participate more fully during empowerments, teachings, and Dharma study.
Our courses follow the curriculum established by Lama David Curtis, founder of Tibetan Language Institute. We offer Level I and II classes, as well as other courses.
Level I
- Basics for learning how to spell and read Tibetan
Level II
- Fundamentals of Tibetan grammar and syntax
Other Courses
- The Divine Tree, a one-hundred line poem traditionally used for teaching Tibetan grammar
- The Heart Sutra, a word-by-word analysis
- Other small texts and prayers
For information about upcoming courses, e-mail Melissa or call her at 928.526-5007. You can also sign up for our e-mail list.

Manjushri
Buddha of Enlightened Speech
Jampel Sungling translates from the Tibetan as The Place of Manjushri’s Speech. Manjushri is known as the Buddha of Wisdom. He holds a sword in his right hand, which symbolizes wisdom’s ability to cut through ignorance; and in his left hand he holds a prajnaparamita text, which explains the way in which sublime knowing or wisdom is perfected. Traditionally in Tibet, Buddhist scholars and practitioners recite his heart-essence mantra to increase intelligence and wisdom.
